Run the London Marathon virtually!
My finish line is just 26.2 miles in front of me! Where there is a will there is a way right? I said I was doing my first marathon this year and lockdown isn't going to stop me completing this challenge. The Virtual London Marathon is go and I'm doing it Leonie style. I will be on my own, in Brighton, in a tutu with the official London Marathon app in my headphones.
My First Marathon
No other runners, no crowds of support, no atmosphere, terrible weather, one determined woman
The thing about setting goals and working towards them is that when you reach the time to perform, nothing is going to stop you after all that hard work. This is not really the way I wanted my first marathon to take place but given the world we now live in, we either work with lockdown life or we miss out.
The Virtual London App was totally brilliant with commentary by the amazing Paula Radcliffe. It tracked me via GPS and told me where I would be if I was running on the actual London route. The fact that I was running up and down Brighton seafront in torrential rain and hail was simply another challenge to overcome. Paula cheered me on as I virtually crossed Tower Bridge with the recording of crowd cheers playing in my headphones. Super slow and steady one foot in front of the other I was going to get this done.
And when I finally crossed it and Paula shouted congratulations in my ears, the tears came full and fast.
I am a marathon runner!
WE CAN DO HARD THINGS!
Pink power love to you for reading this, Leonie x x
